Russell Tovey on the future of Alonso

January 9th, 2010

russell_toveySFX have a new interview with Russell Tovey in which he responds to the speculation that his character Alonso Frame will be joining the Torchwood team full-time in Series 4 of the Doctor Who spin off, following his brief cameo at the end of The End of Time.

“I’ve no idea if I’ll be in Torchwood, although it’s something I’d be open to if they asked me,” the actor said. “I didn’t really realise when I was filming it, but when it was on people suddenly were saying, ‘Oh you’re going to be the new Ianto,’ and I had no idea what that meant. I didn’t even realise Midshipman Frame was gay!”

He added: “I suppose Midshipman Frame could be the new Ianto. Or they might have just gone to the disabled toilets and come out again and that’s it…”

I’d love to see Alonso go to TW, after all it makes more sense than the Doctor acting as pimp, doesn’t it?

Personally, I’m not too fussed as long as it doesn’t interfere with the filming schedule of Being Human.
