Isn’t he standing just inside the door, it might have flown in through the door or something. You can’t see Amy’s and Rory’s facial expressions though, that would have helped.

It makes me think of those plasma ball lights, except square.

Maybe…It’s the key too finding out exactley who/what River Song is. The shocked expression on his face could be because he’s just found out who she is..??
