Instead, give the team a purpose. The original reason Torchwood existed according to Queen Victoria was for the good of the British Empire! I see nothing wrong with that! And there is still plenty for them to do! Isn’t there still a rift in Cardiff to get back to?

Its simple to add a few new cast members and get the ball rolling again, just for goodness sake, leave the cheesy MD disaster crap out of it! That story line was so convoluted and so forced that if you pretended it never happened I don’t think anyone would be sorry!

For goodness sake Jack was a Time Agent! Use the stupid bracelet and travel back in time a year or so! Maybe he’s even traveled the galaxy the last five years, or blew up the time agency! Anything! Just let Torchwood be what it could be and give the fans what they deserve!

Added to that, the sacrifice of Jack’s Grandson was really quite something.

Miracle Day was not far short of a disaster for me, personally. I was bored all the way through, I felt uncomfortable at certain points and got attacked as homophobic because of it (which is completely not true) and the ending was just rediculous.

Jack’s immortality has nothing to do with his blood. I seriously doubt that something as powerful as the Bad Wolf Entity would just add something to Jack’s blood to make him immortal. There’s something a whole lot more to him than just funny blood.

The Tardis ran to the end of the universe to get away from him and the Doctor had trouble even looking at him and from Miracle Day, we’re being told that it’s in his blood or that in some way, Jack is capable of producing blood that has immortality properties?

No, just wrong. Added to that, they wrongly assumed that people would love the Series and therefore dug them into a massive hole from which they can never climb out from, by suggesting at the end that there was a Plan B and my reaction was “Oh please, don’t make me go through another Miracle Day”.

Because of that Plan B, how can Torchwood ever go back to its roots?……..Series 5 would have to be Miracle Day 2 and I don’t even want to think about that.

So, in my opinion, where should Torchwood go next?………As sad as it is to say, I don’t think they should go anywhere. Miracle Day was that bad that I actually believe they should just stop now, I don’t want to even know what Plan B was because Plan A was so incredibly boring and strung out.

For me, Torchwood is Cardiff, the Hub and the SUV. Once they were gone in Children of Earth, so was Torchwood.

Cant even think what the word was. Complete? Ridiculous? Something along those lines.

Series 3 had some excellent moments but I couldn’t get away from the idea that the main focal actor was miscast (I couldn’t divorce Tucker from proceedings), the best conceit was ripped wholesale from independence day and th end felt cynical and uneasant for the sake of it.  Series 4 I gave up on a handful of episodes in as it felt like an am dram presentation of some dodgey fan fic. 

Could it come back? Can’t see how, although the initial concept was cool (I’m sure I read an interview before s1 that they were going for a men in black/csi:who vibe which would have been amaze). Instead we got the televised continuation of Russel’s sermons on sexuality, poor comedy and characters who make a sequence of increasingly ridiculous decisions under the guise of selfish heroism. 

Not a fan, then :) but I’d be well up for something that took the strength of the premise and did it well. Sarah Jane adventures and Who know what they’re doing and did it well. Torchy was a countries mess and s4 was its pinnacle (or nadir, maybe a bit of both).  
 

I love the show and think it’s one of the great adult sci-fi shows of the modern era, but the format has been messed with, characters have been killed off and we’re now at the point where I’m pretty much tired of it.

Miracle Day didn’t so much kill off for me, because I actually quite liked it and still do, but it did feel tired and worn out. The show feel like it’s coming to its natural end, because there’s no much else to do and very little remains.

For me the high point has and always will be ‘Children of Earth’. It had a gripping story, it felt like Torchwood, it had scale and I really liked the trio team we had there. Somehow I think those three together worked better than the original five members crew, because they were all in it together. Ianto had much more to do and it’s a shame he was killed off. The only down point is it would have been great to see just Jack, Gwen and Ianto in a full 13-part series instead of a serial. I don’t care what anyone says, CoE is the best Torcwhood has ever been IMO.

We need a film or feature-length special to bring closure to the series. Jack and Gwen are all that remain and it would be great to see a story where the world is in peril, but they’re the only two that can help, yet the world has turned on them and no one trusts Torchwood. I would love to see what Torcwhood would truly be like with just two members, fighting it out and trying to survive.

With SJA coming to an abrupt end, Torchwood needs to end as well after its fifth incarnation.
