I was really hoping for it to return to television since Miracle Day was so awesome and ended with such an epic cliffhanger. Anything less than television or a film is just a big old middle finger. He was such a great character, really funny and sexy. John managed to capture some of the heartbreaking moments aswell (the end of Children of Earth was amazing!) it's a shame he has been shunned over the past few years in Moffat's era as he has said many times how much he'd love to come back. I guess we'll just have to enjoy the repeats! His passion and love for the show came through a lot, just like it did with Tennant. He was such a great character, really funny and sexy.
