Doctor Who Christmas idents confirmed!
It has been revealed that the BBC will be launching a new string of specially-recorded Doctor Who Christmas idents next month, in the run-up to the broadcast of the Tenth Doctor’s finale, The End of Time!
The news has been rumoured for a while now, but thanks to the British Board of Film Classification, we have confirmation that the 5-second idents will feature scenes such as the Doctor digging in the snow, and a reindeer sniffing the TARDIS!
The idents will be shown before various programmes during the festive period, similiar to the Wallace and Gromit blips that were used last Christmas.
“I watched the Wallace and Gromit idents last year, then walked into the office on January 2nd and said, ‘I want that!’” outgoing showrunner Russell T Davies told the latest issue of Radio Times. “Maybe it is a bit of a takeover this year, but of all the things to flood your screens, why not Doctor Who?”
The BBFC have also classified a new 30-second trailer for The End of Time.
Thanks to ChildofTime for the tip!
Sorry, what is an ident? Sort of like little tidbits of trailers?
WOW! I got my name mentioned in a Whoviannet post!!! COOOOOOOL! Lol No problem, glad to help with the tip off. lol
@TSG
Station idents are normally used in between shows, and by some are considered the most important portion of a network’s presentation. For example, the circular clips on BBC One in between shows are idents. Or the Wallace and Gromit ones last Christmas on BBC 1 also. Hope that helps!
Wow - maybe this was the third project after all…
@ChildofTime
Thanks! Think I get it now.
