BBC America set Series 5 launch date!

February 26th, 2010

doctor-amy-februaryAs fans across the globe hold their breath in anticipation for all things Series 5, things are finally starting to get a move on as we now have confirmation of the start date for our new series on BBC America. Their official website and Facebook group has revealed that US fans will be able to enjoy the Eleventh Doctor and Amy in action, starting with The Eleventh Hour, from Saturday 17th April!

While those of us in the UK are still awaiting solid transmission details, it’ll most likely begin on Saturday 3rd April here, which would tie in nicely with BBC America’s announcement last August that from now on Doctor Who will air across the pond soon after its premiere in Britain!

And BBC America are no doubt just as excited about welcoming the Eleventh Doctor and Amy as its Whovian viewers, as David Tennant’s finale two-parter as the Tenth Doctor, The End of Time, smashed their ratings records when it had its US debut last month. Stay tuned!

That’s must be a bit disappointing for US fans: when it came to The End of Time, there was near enough a day in between the UK and US broadcasts. But, with one of the most important stories in The Eleventh Doctor’s era, they’ve reverted to broadcasting it two weeks later, just like SyFy did with Episodes One to Thirteen of Series Four.
