What did you think of tonight’s thrilling trail? How many times have you replayed it? Has watching it made you even more excited for their upcoming adventures, or is it just a painful reminder that the show as we know it is changing before our very eyes? Let us know!
Feel free to leave your thoughts and discuss your outlandish theories in the comments of this post! Have your say today! Geronimo!
Our first look at Series 5 was unveiled on New Year’s Day following the broadcast of The End of Time, Part Two.

It was a let down in so far it reminded me of sarah jane adventures.
After water of mars I felt the series was going to be more robust in the portrail of the Doctor. This trailer felt clumsy,maybe it was because it was based around flavour of the month 3D,or as I have already said Sarah Jane Adventures,I do hope not because I fear it will get marginilised and with BBC cutbacks in the offing in the future,it would only need a Lord Grade figure in place and the plug would be pulled.
Strange when you think of him being the same man who was travelling with Donna and Jackie and Mickey and Martha and everyone, its just odd! I loved this though and really cannot stop watching! Makes me even more excited for Easter! Loved the music too although it reminded me a little bit of Cosmic Love by Florence & The Machine!
I watch it again. You can see the 3D element in it. There is no difference to the Chris E trailer. His Doctor stood in the TARDIS and completely ripped off the 1960’s movies!! It’s a brilliant teaser! I think all the negativity is because people are jealous that now DT has gone, MS gets to work with the best story writer from the RTD years.
Jealous? I think you need to rethink that comment a bit…
@ChildofTime
Really and why’s that? Take a look at the rather childish comment from @pirko and some others on here. It’s the same rubbish from nearly all the same people. Always knocking the new show before it has even started. The trailer works well. A similar trailer for Chris E worked well. DT has GONE and it’s about time people got over it. So the jealous comment stands!
Everyone can have an opinion Steve, don’t think we all have to think the same as you , we are entitled to judge the trailer differently to you.
I’m not sure of the trailer. Matt just doesn’t seem like the doctor till his last line and even though I love Karen you really can’t hear her all that all. This shouldn’t have went out on the tv because you can tell this was meant to be 3D with all the bits that look like its meant to jump out at you. I will wait till a proper trailer appears on tv next month to really judge matt as the stuff we have seen aren’t really his strong points.
Anyone else think Amy looks like Ace if you pause the trailer at 0.41?
Aaaargh!! Make that “pause the trailer at 0.24″
@Shauna Curtis
It’s supposed to be one of the new Silurians
The perfect way to describe all of your posts. “Get over your obsession with David Tennant! People are moving on and looking forward to the new series. Why can’t you?”
@TE
Funny. I don’t have an obsession about DT at all. I thought he was rather boring at the end. His last 20 minutes were the most boring of any episode in the last 40+ years! I am actually more keen on MS due to the constant knocking he is receiving and his first episode has not even aired! Hopefully it will be like the William Hartnell/Patrick Troughton change over. Give it a couple of weeks and everyone will have forgotten DT!
@Steve
I didn’t say you have, hence the quotation marks. However, many people are keen on Matt Smith, his Doctor and Series Five, despite what you may think, so I don’t see what the point of your tirade is.
How quick we forget I remember when there was no regular Dr Who on Tv & now all the world & his wife is a so called expert, wait & see & watch a few of the new episodes before starting to critisise. The programme is in good hands & as fans we are not experts .Steve Moffit & his team know what they are doing .the trailer was a promotional for the show & the fact its being shown in cinema’s explains the content.Its to give the public a feel of whats to come, if they reveal too much there wont be any surprises & nobody will want to watch
This was a promotional trailer.
Like the trailer for series four, when Donna was sitting at the fire. Did that trailer give any more information than this trailer?
The only thing about this trailer is it has been released early -
Mustn’t that be a good thing?
@grozz
Which is why the Series Four cinema trailer only contained clips from Episodes One to Five, Seven, Ten and Eleven: so it didn’t spoil the series. Although, this preview does reveal a bit too much with the Silurian head at the end.
@ Steve
Think of me as “childish” if you want but in case it has escaped your notice everyone on here has a difference of opinion and thats fine. You may mock DT but u are forgetting one vital thing…he was VOTED BY THE VIEWERS AS THE BEST DOCTOR EVER!
I have said on many occasions I hope MS and SM prove me wrong and get me as engaged with this series as I have for the last 4 years. personally Moffat is not one of my favourite writers of the series BUT i respect what he wants to do with the series. But you need to stop whinging and having a go at other people just cos we dont all have a wet dream when Moffats name is mentioned.
As for the trailer. My only problems with it was it wasnt very exciting and I (personally) could not hear the dialogue very well over the music, especially with Amy. In short…It was inaudible.
IT WAS FANTASTIC
@pirko
Voted by mainly people who little or no knowledge of Doctor Who since the 1960’s! Everyone has their own opinion of each actor and in my view, DT is down near the bottom of the list.
Perhaps you should stop whinging about the new trailer as you have done! You used capital letters which is commonly know as rude and shouting!
The trailer is more exciting than any thing that was offered prior to DT first season. And very much on par with the CE season trailer, even if it was a rip off from the1960 movies!
MS has a tough act to follow, just as Peter Davison did in the 80’s and I am sure he will do it well. SM will do a fantastic job as long as he doesn’t follow RTD’s need for snogging everyone in site! He certainly has done some great stories.
@TE
You getting very confusing!!
You said “Get over your obsession with David Tennant! People are moving on and looking forward to the new series. Why can’t you?”
and then when I responded with “Funny. I don’t have an obsession about DT at all.”
you replied - “I didn’t say you have”
Make your mind up!
