BBC Blast launches ‘Design a Game’ competition
BBC Blast has unveiled details of an exciting contest which is looking for young designers to help create a new game to feature on The Sarah Jane Adventures website.
The competition is aimed at people aged 13-19 who have a passion for sound and visual design. Entrants focusing on sound will need to make three sound effects (SFX) - each up to 10 seconds in length - for the Krulius alien, including one for his movement, another for his breathing, and one for the digital bio-converter and modem on his wrist.
Visual designers, meanwhile, have been offered the chance to design a spaceship for the Krulius (pictured on the right), which must include a special feature which is particularly useful to him.
Entries must be accompanied by a 200-word description detailing how you came up with yours ideas, why your entry is perfect for the Krulius, and why you think your entry suits its specific audience.
The closing date for entries is 5PM on Monday 11th October 2010, and up to 8 winners will be chosen to attend a two day master class over 23rd/24th October 2010 alongside leading industry professionals.
Entries can either be uploaded to the BBC Blast website, sent to ‘Game Design Competition’, BBC Blast Online, MC3 D2, 201 Wood Lane, London, W12 7T along with your name, age and email address, or emailed to [email protected].
Full competition details, including downloadable resources and useful tips, can be via this link, and Anjili Mohindra, who plays Rani Chandra in The Sarah Jane Adventures, has also recorded an overview of the contest which you can watch below.
Best of luck to any of our visitors or anybody you might know who will be entering!
The 12-part fourth series of The Sarah Jane Adventures begins on CBBC later this year.
I love Anjil too much.
