The BBC has today released a showreel of their Autumn and Winter drama highlights, which of course includes this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special!

The preview features our first glimpses of the episode, including shots of Matt Smith as the Doctor as well as its guest stars Katherine Jenkins and Sir Michael Gambon!

Although it’s not much, it’s a nice reminder that Christmas is definitely on its way!

You can see the Doctor Who clips at 0:41, 1:51 and 2:36, and some screencaps below!

As always, let us know what you think of the latest developments in the comments!

    That shot of Smith with the Nazi flags is obviously from the Isherwood movie, but that would make an interesting Doctor Who story! There are a number of good-looking productions here. Hopefully we’ll get to see some of them (other than DW of course!) here in Canada.

    Looking forward to it, obviously, but can’t say I’m that enthused by the idea of a take on Scrooge. Hope The Grand Moff pulls it out the bag!

    Fun moment in the advert where we get the three latest Doctors pop up one after the other.

    @TWWL

    I wish everyone would stop moaning about the ratings because Im not.

    In Septembers issue of Doctor Who Magazine it did a peice on the 2005 viewing figures

    Series Five got a total viweing aduince of 7.7 million people wish is excatly the same as DT’s first season. (Which also got 7.7 viewers.)

    so everyone please stop taking notice of what the Sun or the Daily Mail report and just take Doctor who for what it is.

    A Sci-fi series and a good one at that.

    I’ve giving up worrying about these negative people sy.

    You worry about it too much.

    @Robert
    That’s fine, I was just left a bit confused as I didn’t mention anything to do with ratings.
