BBC’s managing director discusses Experience
DigitalSpy have released a new interview with the BBC’s managing director of live entertainment, Philip Murphy, today, in which he discusses what fans can expect from next year’s Doctor Who Experience!
“We have an immersive, interactive adventure, which lasts for basically about a third of the programmed time,” he told the website. “You’re basically one of the Doctor’s companions for a scripted walk-through adventure, with special effects and monsters.”
He continued: “The most crucial thing is that you get to go inside the TARDIS and you get to fly it! It’s a 100% reproduction of the TARDIS set as it currently stands.”
Regarding the exhibition, Murphy promised ”the biggest Doctor Who exhibition that’s ever been done”, which will include props and costumes from the show’s history, some that have “never been seen before” in public, including the Series 1-4 TARDIS set which visitors will get to stand in. He said: “The total floor space is about 4000 square metres in Olympia Two, and that’s getting on towards the size of a football pitch.”
