BBC release plot details for Ep 5, The Rebel Flesh
The BBC has today released the official plot details for Episode 5 of the new series, The Rebel Flesh, which is the first part of a two-parter by Matthew Graham.
A solar tsunami sends the TARDIS hurtling towards a futuristic factory on Earth, where human doppelgangers are used to mine dangerous acid.
A second wave hits and the “Gangers” separate. They can remember every second of their “original’s” life and feel every emotion they’ve ever experienced. But are these memories stolen or have they been bequeathed? Are the Gangers merely faulty machinery that must be shut down or are they living, breathing, sentient beings? Can the Doctor convince the terrified humans to accept these “almost people” and prevent an all-out civil war before the factory explodes?
The Rebel Flesh will air on BBC One/BBC One HD on 21st May (time to be confirmed).
Take one giant leap for Whovian kind and discuss Episode 2, Day of the Moon!
This looks to be very interesting. An exploration of the idea that cropped up in the last two minutes of New Earth – what happens to the ‘new humans’? They were even called ‘flesh’, remember? Lots of potentially dark moral themes.
Very interesting indeed.
