Neil discusses Matt and Suranne’s performances
Digital Spy has released a new video interview with Neil Gaiman, in which he promises that Matt Smith and Suranne Jones are “astonishing” together in this week’s episode, The Doctor’s Wife.
“Matt and Suranne are an astonishing double act,” he said. “Watching their relationship, it’s funny and it’s moving and it’s frustrating and it’s heartbreaking. You get to understand more about the Doctor by the end of it, and you also get to see a side of the Doctor that we don’t normally see.”
He continued: “What I find so interesting about that is that it was sort of in my script, but it’s really there in the way that Matt chose to play it, which is this vulnerability. You get to see the Doctor doing things he’s never quite done before, and actually, in a weird way, he’s out of his comfort level. It’s heartrending and quite wonderful.”
The Doctor’s Wife will air this Saturday at 6:30pm on BBC One & BBC One HD.
i wonder whats making the doctor show a different side to him cant wait to watch it to find out!!!!
Mm, it does provide such scope for character development. It must be difficult to know where to draw the line with the Doctor – you can’t give him too much of a family without diluting the “I’m the last of my kind” thing, which is why River is so brilliant.
And hey, wouldn’t it be brilliant if River were in this episode? She’s got competition!!
