Piers Wenger steps down as Executive Producer
It has been confirmed today that Piers Wenger is leaving the BBC to join Film4.
Wenger has served as Executive Producer on Doctor Who, alongside Steven Moffat and Beth Willis, since Series 5, and was formerly Head of BBC Wales Drama before becoming a creative leader in March. He commented: “It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to Doctor Who and BBC Drama, and all of the extraordinary people who I have worked with there.”
We’d like to wish Piers the best of luck for the future! Thanks to JC for letting us know.
Good luck to Piers on your new job. Thank you for being part of a team which has successfully carried on giving us great Doctor Who.
Didn’t the BBC already confirm this a while ago when they announced Faith as his replacement?
@TE
No :S As the article from March says, he hadn’t left the BBC, he had just stepped down from Head of BBC Wales. He’s now completely leaving to join Film4.
@Peter
Ah, thanks
Good luck to Piers it only feels like yesterday when he was first seen by viewers talking introducing Matt Smith, complete with nasty cold too. He should be proud of the new series. Has his replacement been announced or will SM and BW just run the show as a duo like RTD and JG
