The BBC Press Office has confirmed that Episode 4 of the new series, The Doctor’s Wife, will air at 6:30pm on BBC One on Saturday 14th May, lasting for 50 minutes.

It’s the latest timeslot of Series 6 so far, and, as always, Doctor Who will be followed by Confidential. Episode 4’s accompanying instalment is called ‘Bigger on the Inside’, in which writer Neil Gaiman will take viewers on a tour of the TARDIS. Confidential will air on BBC Three/BBC HD at 7:20pm, straight after the episode.

Meanwhile, “Doctor Who is a key part of BBC One’s Saturday night schedule” according to the Head of Planning and Scheduling for BBC One, Dan McGolpin, who has defended its earlier 6pm-ish timeslots to DigitalSpy. “Like last year, this series of Doctor Who is scheduled at start times between 6pm and 7pm on a Saturday night, where it attracts a very strong audience including a large proportion of younger viewers,” he said. “Very few drama series on any of the UK’s channels achieve audience volumes of this size.”
