Alexa says Esther is “eyes and ears of the viewer”
NY Daily News has released a new interview with Alexa Havins, in which she discusses her role in the new series of Torchwood.
The actress stars as Esther Drummond in Miracle Day, and has explained that her character serves as “the eyes and ears of the viewer”. “She’s like the tour guide of the United States,” she reveals. “She’s a little less sure of herself than Rex, so she asks questions the viewers ask. She’s thrown into a world she didn’t expect, but she finds exciting.”
The new series premieres in the US (Starz) on Friday 8th July, in Canada (SPACE) and Australia (UKTV) on Saturday 9th July, and in the UK (BBC One) on Thursday 14th July.

So, she’s basically the American Gwen…?
@TE
Sounds like it! Well, it was a necessity, really, bearing in mind that Gwen can no longer play that role: she’s part of the history, now. She’s not going to be asking questions that we want answered, because she’s already a part of that world.
@TSG
True. Although, hopefully she won’t end up being the new Suzie (what a waste of a brilliant character).
@TE
I doubt it. Suzie was the antithesis to Gwen, really.
