Episode one of the long-awaited Adventure Games, City of the Daleks, is now available to download for PC on the official website – 3 days before its scheduled release!
It was updated on the site yesterday evening, however we just wanted to make sure that it wasn’t a temporary error on the BBC’s behalf before we reported the news ourselves. The early release has, naturally, spread through fandom like wildfire, and the link is very much still active – so it’s too late to turn back now!
You can download the brand new game in all its glory by clicking this link, where you can also watch an exciting video introduction from Karen Gillan. The Mac version of the game will be released on June 15th (or maybe a few days earlier if lightning strikes twice!), and the official site promises that non-UK fans will be able to play when a commercial version of the game is released internationally next month.
Thanks to everybody who wrote in with the news. We weren’t ignoring you - we just wanted to verify what was going on before we posted!

Of course, nothing is set in stone until we get confirmation from the BBC, but it just goes to show that you never know what you’re going to find hidden beneath the wonders of cyberspace. The first game, City of the Daleks, is released Saturday 5th June.

He explains: “It was over a year ago that I started talking to the BBC about the possibility of translating Doctor Who into a series of video game episodes and the intervening 12 months have been incredibly busy but creative and rewarding.”

LastBroadcast have released an interview with Phil Ford - co-writer of the forthcoming Adventure Games – who exclusively discusses what we can expect from the first instalment, City of the Daleks!
“It looks fabulous and I think people are going to be blown away by it,” he reveals. “It opens in a London of 1963 that’s in ruins, and then takes us to Skaro, the planet of the Daleks. We’ve been there before, of course, but never seen it in the way that we do now.”
He added: ”And we’ve never seen Kaalann before, the brutal poisonous heart of the Dalek empire. But that’s where the Doctor and Amy have to go in order to save time, save the human race – and save Amy.”
He goes on to praise the current series, and new Doctor, Matt Smith. “He is a brilliant Doctor,” he said. “He has already made it totally his own. I love him and I love what Steven has done with the show – and yes, that is me creeping shamelessly for a chance to write on Series 6.”

The BBC has today released the title and plot details for the first instalment of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games!
City of the Daleks follows the Doctor and Amy Pond as the TARDIS materializes in 1963, where they find London in ruins. The Daleks have seized control of time and the only chance of saving Earth lies in a desperate quest to Skaro, the Daleks’ home planet, before time catches up with Amy, the last survivor of the human race. It will feature the Doctor’s first ever visit to the Dalek capital city, Kaalann.
Its co-writer, Phil Ford, said: “This is quite a series opener. We destroy London even before the credits role – so you can only begin to imagine where we travel to from there. City of the Daleks is as big-budget as you can imagine: from London we head to Kaalann, the capital city of the Daleks, one constructed from pure anger and hate. And these new Daleks don’t like to be messed with, so players are about to enjoy a new interactive episode which is as heart-pulsing as anything you’ve seen before.”
City of the Daleks will be available to download from the official website from 5th June.
