    I don’t believe River is the Doctor’s wife. It just seems too obvious. The Moff’s trying too hard to make us believe that. I’m not sure who she is.

    I’m thinking the silence is in some way related to the Vashta Narada.

    That’s about as far as I’m willing to speculate.

    its got to be a time lord that made the tardis explode, so it could be…

    the rani

    omega

    rassilon

    morbius

    or the master.

    i agree about river, it is wayy t obvious for her to be his wife and steven moffat is tryin wayyy to hard to make us believe that,
    Vashta Narada might have something to do with the silence, “silence in the libary” or it might just be coincidence, although nothing is in doctor who :L
    i also think river is connected with the silence in some way,

    She is a future regeneration of The Master

    @calum
    You forgot the Monk and one other more obvious Timelord

    @Brian F. I hope not. It would be the most stupid idea yet.
    However I am wondering if River is really another relation of the Doctor’s who appeared way back with the first Doctor. That would make some kind of sense, especially if you follow the reasoning in both Human Nature and Utopia.

    I’ve never watched the Old Who so forgive me if this is impossible but River couldnt be his grandaughter or anything could she? I dont think they would make her his wife because it would be soo obvious :)

    @Steve
    I hope this isn’t a dumb question but what reasoning are you referring to?
    I also hope that River somehow ties into Classic Who. I’m just not sure how.

    I suppose there’s no reason why not, though there would have to be some explanation as to how The Doctor doesn’t know it’s her.

    @e.p
    Ok – The Doctor once said that he and the Master shared the same mind but in Utopia, the Doctor didn’t realise the Master was the Master because the essence of the Master was kept within a watch. In fact, even the Master did not know he was the Master. Similarly the Doctor changed his nature and possibly his body to reflect a human and it’s nature. If the Timelords can change their natures bodies etc, why would the Doctor even know that River may be his granddaughter if she had regenerated and her nature is now contained in a similar fashion. Considering the Doctor has regenerated 10 times, how many times has Susan regenerated? Why would River even know she was Susan? Perhaps this is building to other timelords out there who do not know they are timelords?

    @Steve
    Oh ok ok I know what you’re talking about. Didn’t think that one through heheh

    So yes there is a way for River to be a Timelady. I’ve said this a million times but I do hope she’s either Romana or the Rani. It would be a nice acknowledgement of Classic Who.
