Oh lord, this looks so awesome, but was really emotional seeing david go and he will allways be the best doctor in my oppinion, but I reckon this new series will totally transform doctor who as a show, it looks so much edgy and now, cannot wait.

Really really really not sure over this. I worry that they wil take away the warmth that the previous serious had and have changed far too much with the tone. I hope it does well and it proves me wrong but from this first look, I’m not convinced. Matt will either succeed past expectations or crash and burn without trace

The Fifth Series looks fantastic! The colour grading, the special effects, Amy, returning enemies (no matter how different they look), Matt’s catchphrase, Amy, the dark scenes with the Weeping Angels in (what now appears to be) Episode One… in Eleven’s words – “Geronimo!”

Well. So the Doctor will fire a gun, then.

    The Tenth Doctor had “allonsy.”
    He has “geronimo.”
I mean, come on, everyone knows what “geronimo” is…

I was quite nervous about wat number eleven would be like until i had watched the trailer. There seems to be a lot of things returning: the daleks, weeping angels, river song, silurians, sea devils and some new creatures like the vampire things and the doll head thing i saw in the trailer.

I’m gonna hold out on making judgement of the 11th Doctor. There’s already been the start of an explanation of why the Tardis looks as different as it does and I too am not sure about the Doctor firing a gun after the 10th Doctor’s insistence he would never, but we’ll have to see, perhaps he’s not firing a gun at someone, rather something.

I don’t think he’s using the gun to shoot any one, or thing, but to shoot something in order to achieve something. If you know what I mean. But overall, looks like an aright Doc. Amy looks aright, too.

I do think (from seeing the trailer again) that this doctor will be more aggressive. Yes, he fires at gun (which is most likely shooting at something rather than someone) but he also punches someone too. I think he will be a more violent doctor

What can I say? The new series looks so good. Weeping Angels, River Song, Karen Gillan (how hot could she get? – if only I wasn’t gay).

    Roll on Spring.

I wonder if River Song will recognise the Doctor, because we need to see her meet the Doctor for the first time. And who’s that girl the Doctor says “Trust Me, I’m The Doctor” to because hes said it to her as if he knew her but she didnt recognise him because he had regenerated.

I have a feeling that’s young Amy he’s saying that too, as he meets her when she is a child and when she is older according to reports (think Reinette).

Maybe the punch is showing that this Doctor is a more Pertwee kind of Doctor, with the Venusian Aikido.

    @Mass
Yeah, maybe because, Karen’s cousin is playing a role in series 5 so that could be her. But even is the future Amy Pond knew the Doctor, the younger one would not have met him yet so she would not recognise him.

‘Legs… I’ve still got legs’ and ‘Geronimo’ — I really hope it’s onwards and upwards from there.

@TSG Yes, and so did the Tenth, and the Sixth…

I hope everyone chillaxes over Doctor 11. No doubt he has huge shoes to fill, but he will be acting under the best Who writer ever, and I think this is going to make for some great stories. Moffatt’s stories won the only three Hugo Awards that Who ever received. I have a very good feeling about the new series. And he’s a fan, not just a hack hired off the street (like, ahem, Jon Nathan-Turner).

Oh yes, and Amy Pond is quite fit too. :)

So sad to see David go, but the very first glimpse of Matt did make me laugh. He looks so manic in that split second after regenerating(understandable I know, as he has just changed heads – but you know what I mean!!)

OMG!! New series looks like it will be the best yet with River Song and the Weeping Angels returning among many new monsters :) I just wish people would stop worrying about Matt Smith ’cause it looks like he’s bought a new version of the Doctor instead of just copying David Tennant, cant wait… Loved David but think I will love Matt more… plus he’s absolutely gorgeous!! :)

Doctor who comes back in February!

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/s7/doctorwho/news/a181313/curtis-reveals-who-episode-details.html

Richard Curtis has announced some details about his upcoming episode of Doctor Who.

It was recently confirmed that the Blackadder writer will pen a script for Matt Smith’s first season as The Doctor.

Curtis told ShortList: “I am writing a new episode of Doctor Who, which is great. I wanted to write something my kids would like.

“So I’m doing a Doctor Who that will be on TV next February. I’ve got Van Gogh stabbing a monster.”

He added: “Someone from the BBC just sent me a picture of my monster. I had to decide if it was yellow enough.”

I admit, I only really got into this in 2005 – so I do have a limited frame of reference, but Matt Smith looks for all the world like one of the kids from the school round the corner at chucking out time at 0:04 on that trailer. I’m really looking forward to seeing the show under new ownership – Mr Moffatt’s stories have been the most discussed (I’ve seen people in Weeping angel fancy dress!).

Im just wondering about the prospect of being introduced into a new actor in the role who looks like an overgrown sixth – former. And the gun. What was the point of establishing Capt. jack back in the beginning (who – effectively – carried the guns, so the Doctor didn’t have to) to head off in this direction.

forgive the ramble. I’ve rather enjoyed the past five years, rather like to enjoy the sixth :)

has anyone else noticed at about 0:20seconds into the trailer, is what appears to be the 11th dr fixing something up in the new style tardis?? if so even from what we see looks quite impressive =P
