3D Series 5 trailer on its way to cinemas?

February 18th, 2010

doctor-amy-februaryThe BBC will reportedly be taking their Doctor Who advertising campaign further than ever before this year, as the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond prepare to take a leap into a different dimension!

A report from Broadcast suggests that a 40-second 3D trailer to promote Series 5 will soon be previewed before showings of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland in cinemas across the UK.

The same preview will have its official debut on BBC One and on the official website this Saturday.

A BBC spokesperson said: “Doctor Who is the appropriate vehicle for 3D. It just fits. It’s a great way to introduce and showcase the new Doctor to younger viewers.”

While Broadcast have always been a reliable source in the past, this intriguing news has yet to be confirmed by the BBC. As always, we’ll keep you updated! Stay tuned!

3D tends to give me a headache. My friends and I accidentally went to see a subtitled 3D film (we didn’t know it was subtitled) and the words were in double vision. Ouch. Still, they say the tech’s improving.

The film is the perfect vessel for the trailer, seeing as they’ll both be of similar styles so I can’t wait!
