BBC issue formal apology for banner ‘mistake’
The BBC have today issued a formal response in which they apologise for the animated Graham Norton banner for Over the Rainbow, which appeared at the bottom of the screen during the closing moments of The Time of Angels on BBC One on Saturday.
The corporation have admitted that “the Over the Rainbow trail in Doctor Who should not have played”, and they “apologise to all Doctor Who fans whose enjoyment of the show was disrupted.”
They finish: “We recognise the strength of feeling that has been expressed and are taking steps to ensure that this mistake will not happen again.”
Over 5,500 complaints were reportedly submitted following the incident.
“Strength of feeling”… well, we’re a hardcore bunch, us Whovians.
yup, us whovians get very annoyed when doctor who is disrupted…
lets be honest, would yopu want a cartoon graham norten during ANY program?
I dont see why everyone is moaning. Its not like its blocking you from seeing the Doctor with a gun. If you dont want to see it, just watch it on iPlayer for goodness sake.
@Whobase
Yes, silly us.
It was highly distracting (especially being animated and right on the Doctor’s lower part of his face) and certainly did ruin the ending of the episode for me anyways.
And why should we have to watch it on iPlayer (can’t stand watching shows on that anyways) just because the BBC messed up?
