Doctor Who, Torchwood up for Constellation Awards
Familiar faces from Doctor Who and Torchwood are featured in the nominations for this year’s Constellation Awards, Canada’s annual ceremony which focuses on rewarding excellence in sci-fi film and TV!
Firstly, David Tennant is shortlisted for the Best Male Performance in a 2009 Science Fiction Television Episode prize for his role as the Doctor in The Waters of Mars, as is Gareth David-Lloyd for his portrayal of Ianto Jones in Day Four of Children of Earth.
Meanwhile, Michelle Ryan’s appearance as Lady Christina de Souza in Planet of the Dead has landed her a nomination for the Best Female Performance in a 2009 Science Fiction Television Episode, and Doctor Who itself is up against Supernatural, Being Erica, Sanctuary, Stargate Universe, Defying Gravity and Flashfoward for the Best Science Fiction Television Series of 2009 gong.
In addition, the script for Day One of Torchwood’s Children of Earth, written by its creator, Russell T Davies, is included in the Best Overall 2009 Science Fiction Film or Television Script category!
The winners will be announced at the Polaris 24 convention, which takes place between 16th-18th July 2010. We’d just like to wish all involved the very best of luck!
Category One is hard: David or Gareth?
Obviously, both the Tenth Doctor and Ianto are dead so you’d feel pity and want to vote for both characters. Also, both were fantastically developed characters in their own ways, and Ianto was the funniest character in Torchwood.
Also, Category Five is hard: Aurora or Emma?
I mean Victimsight was fantastic and had such a thrilling, suspenseful plot what with the Doctor being the main suspect, and Aurora was fantastic as Anna. But, Half-Blood Prince was one of my favourites out of the Harry Potter films (and novels), and Hermonie is awesome no matter what.
