impossible-to-crack

We’re now two episodes in to this year’s series and already there’s an intreguing story arc cracking into motion!

Speculation is rife as to just how and why the mysterious cracks keep appearing, first in Amy’s bedroom in The Eleventh Hour, and then again in the hull of the Starship UK spaceship in The Beast Below…

In addition, Prizoner Zero told the Doctor that the Pandorica will open, and that silence will fall. But what does it mean?

Feel free to discuss your outlandish theories right here, right now, and also over the coming months as the mystery deepens. Can you crack it?

What did you think of The Beast Below? Have your say in our discussion.

maybe the pandorica is the universe and the cracks are the universe opening but i am still confused about the tardis piece.

IS MAY SOUND REALLY STUPID IN THE START OF EPISODE 4 (THE TIME OF ANGELS), WASN’T THERE SOME KIND OF BOX WITH ANCIENT WRITING ON THERE FROM RIVER SONG SAYING “HELLO SWEETIE”? AND AT THE END OF EPISODE 5 (FLESH AND STONE), RIVER SONG SAID “YOU WILL SEE ME AGAIN VERY SOON,WHEN THE PANDORICA OPENS.” SHE ALSO SAID “YES I KILLED A MAN, A VERY GOOD MAN.” MAYBE RIVER IS NOT HUMAN AND SHE KNEW HOW TO FLY THE TARDIS MAKING THE CRACKS.

JUST MY IDEA IS IF THE PANDORICA OPENS AND SHE IS BEHIND THE MAKING OF THE CRACKS, SHE MIGHT KILL THE DOCTOR. OR AS SOMEONE SAID WHEN DOCTOR 10 REGENERATED AND THE TARDIS REBUILT ITS SELF, WHILE HE REGENERATED THE CRACK COULD HAVE BEEN MADE AND BITS OF THE TARDIS FELL INTO IT

hmm i like a previous theory, about creatures slipping through time and being forced out with the explosion out of the pandorica and therefore cyberman, daleks etc being spilled out after falling through these cracks. then the doctor has a choice to either throw himself into the crack, in order to close it( the reference in flesh and stone ended to quick) and save amy OR have all of his enemies erased from existence but lose amy, sounds like something moff would right

Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang:
The Doctor is dealing with a message on a cliff, a mysterious box and a love story which spans over millennia. He has been warned that the Pandorica, a repository of the most dangerous threats in the Universe, is opening.

Cracks: possibly caused by the doctor and/or tardis at some point in his timeline. or amy trying to do something to assist the doctor or assist rory.

Message on the cliff: sent by his friends/or someone he knows as a warning.

Mysterious box: probably a prison (legend/myth/fairy tale). also perhaps something to do with gallifrey’s past, after all ancient gallifrey was once more into mythical (again legend/myth/fairy tale) beliefs than scientific beliefs.

Love story that last a millennia:
maybe a love story with amy and rory(since apparently he does ’survive). but then i thought, maybe with the doctor and the tardis. maybe the tardis sacrifices herself for the doctor. the doctor is ‘900′ years old, close to a millennia. and if it’s a sad story that requires tissue, the ‘relationship’ between the doctor and the tardis would be epic, perhaps even more than the doctor and rose in doomsday.

    This is what we know:
    - The cracks are the effects of an explosion that happened on the day of amy’s wedding
    - They all lead to the same place, which is where the explosion took place and happened (not 100% sure but probs)
    - They allow people to go through them, if they get in before the time energy catches up with them
    - If the time energy catches up with them, then they are erased from time. Only time travellers can remember them if they are did not play a large part in their time line

Heres my theory on whats gonna happen in Vincent and the Doctor:
At the end of the episode, vincent will see a crack appear and open after amy and the doc leave. I think he’ll paint what he sees in the crack and then will write for the painting to be given to amy pond in the year 2010 (amy will probably tell vincent that they are time travellers and she comes from the year 2010)

Some other of my theorys (yeh i should be studying but who cares)
    - The Doctor missed somthing and travelles back in time to when amy was a girl (it has been confimed that young amy will apear in the final)
    - In the Eleventh Hour when the Doctor leaves amy for 5 minutes, and amy sits down and waits, and then it shows a scene with the clock going forward a couple of hours, and we see a shadow run past…well that shadow cant have been prisoner zero, cuase he only just arrived on earth, and he coundn’t have taken human form yet (It could be the thing that the doctor missed OR the doctor HIMSELF, going back to investigate)
    - Somthing else happened in the years that the doctor left amy, somthing that shes not telling the doctor

right here is a theory based on all the spoilerish pics ive seen and the events of the current series so here goes. we all know the cracks lead to one place, the pandorica. creatures get dragged from their time or place, hence why weavels, sonatarons and dalek are seen there. these creatures team up to place the doctor inside the pandorica but with the doctor going there creates a paradox, as nothing was in there but now the doctor is there thanks for himself showing up. i think this as the synopses states a being “dropping out the sky and tearing down your world” YOUR being amys world. the doctor or someone ellse detonates the tardis in order to create the cracks in order to escape the pandorica thus oponeing up a can of worms

Also! theres that scene in Flesh and Stone were the doctors coat was CLEARLY taken…but then when he talks comforts amy later on in the episode, he is seen wearing it!
Plus a different tie and watch…and he is speaking in a completely different tone of voice from what he was before when he was yelling at amy when she was about to die
I don’t think that the doctor was talking about the weeping angles…I reckon he’s travlling back to check out whats going on thats hes missed
ALSO just to back up mu other theory…the doctor says “You have to remember what you said to me as a child” backing up what i said about the final episode taking place when amy was a child :)

i’m glad river song is returning because she did say something about the pandorica opening and that she was involved somehow so it’s all good. but what connection has amy’s life have to the pandorica. all sorts of questions like:

    will the tardis get destroyed?
    will the doctor die?
    will rory possibly come back?

what is the pandorica opens/the big bang all about

Perhaps the cracks are a little bit similar to the cracks in ‘His Dark Materials’- every time the characters (or holder of the ‘knife’) journeyed into a parallel universe, spectres would leak out of the cracks terrorising the universes. The ‘knife’ could be like the TARDIS- whenever it is used, or used in a certain way, the universe gets damaged. Or, maybe something else is trying to travel between universes, weakening them. Something from the prison maybe? I don’t think we’ve seen the last of prisoner zero, but there would be other evil things in there.

There are lots of signs pointing towards the death of the Doctor; the piece of TARDIS in the crack, and I read somewhere (might have been on here, or in a DWM) about ‘the last of the time lords will fall’ or similar. Then there was that other theory, about there being 2 Doctors (that scene in ‘Flesh and Stone’ where the Doctor comes back to Amy in the clearing in a completely different tone, with his sleeves suddenly rolled up, asking Amy to remember what she was told when she was 7. (I’ve rewatched that twice and still don’t know what he is referring to!) So maybe one of the Doctors will fall, though I don’t understand why there could be 2 in the first place (maybe something to do with parallel universes?)

    *brain explodes*
