Warning! This article and its comments may contain spoilers...

The Doctor has regenerated into a brand new man, but danger strikes before he even has time to recover. And with the TARDIS wrecked, and the sonic screwdriver destroyed, the new Doctor has just 20 minutes to save the whole world – with only Amy Pond to help him.

Who-mania has been at full steam these past few months, and all of our anticipation has been leading up to what we’ve just witnessed – episode one of the brand new series, The Eleventh Hour! And, naturally, after its nationwide debut, the time has come to share your post-series launch thoughts – the overall, the general, and the specific!

We’re by no means exaggerating when we say that tonight’s episode had a lot riding on its back. Not only was it our first full length adventure with Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor (an exciting and historic moment in itself!), but it also marked the introduction of his new companion, Amy Pond, portrayed by Karen Gillan! In addition, we saw the revamped opening titles and heard the reworked theme tune, both of which were screened for the very first time after being omitted from all preview tapes, and we had our first glimpse of the new TARDIS interior on screen too! In a nutshell, it was the epitome of epic!

What did YOU think of the opening adventure? Did it live up to all your expectations, or was the whole affair anti-climatic? And what do you make of the tantalizing hints regarding the adventures to come…?

Spill all the beans by leaving your episode reactions in a comment of this post, and you can now also give it a mark it out of 5 with our new rating system! Geronimo!

So the episode got 8 million viewers – the same figure for David Tennant’s debut in April 2006. I was expecting more given how much publicity Matt Smith has had. I still think 6.20 is RIDICULOUSLY EARLY – and in the summer too when it’s still light outside. The true test will be in the coming weeks. Next Saturday it’s on even earlier, at 6.15, AND it’s up against live FA Cup on itv. Then Britain’s Got Talent will be back. 8 million is a solid start but whether those 8 million will stick over the next 12 weeks remains to be seen. I will: have just watched episode again on BBC Three – made me realise how classy this debut was.

The revelation of the prisoner aped Alien when it was first seen fully mature.
One thing that confused me was when the TARDIS was crashing to earth the Millenium dome and the London eye can be seen but they were not built the time he met Amelia

When he was crashing to earth he was in the current year, but the crash went a bit wrong and back in time!

I found it ok, but considering it was written by someone like Steven Moffat it wasn’t the best story. He tried to combine twovgood stories, the freakiness of the corner of your eyes stuff, which freaked me out, buit then spoilt it a bit with a monster that, in my opinion was too Primeval. Didn’t mind the theme tune itself but hated the graphics used as the Vortex, the cloud were ok, but the lightning just ruined it! And I dont know what they were doing when they wrote the stuff like written by Steven Moffat because parts of it were masssive and stretched out which made it look really out of sync. The food bit was strange, but not funny, I found myself laughing because it was so unbelievable. The introduction of Amy was lever and I like the Doctors oersonality, he has some great linews, and so does Amy, “Twelve years and four Psychiatrists, I kept biting them!” But yeah, not the best series opener but it was ok.

By the way. did anybody else noticve the man running past (fast a bit like the master running out of the Flames in EoT) near the beginning, it may be part of the story arc, this whole silence stuff!!!

Being on time its was I thought it was a little bit much for kids.

This wasn’t as kid freindly as previous Doctor who episodes like Scribble monsters and the Abzoldorff all kid freindly Monsters.

This Monster was more Adult Orrientaited than usual.
I nearly had to change my undies for this one ;-D

I hope moffet doesn’t loose his way, as this is still a childs Program after all!

I found the baddie Rather scary!

I had to swollow hard not to hide behind my freinds Couch

A couple of my friends have complained that a kissogram is not a suitable role model for kids. Which is kinda true. And I kinda hope that never gets mentioned ever again. I would, however, love a bit more of an argument between Amy and the Doctor about how her life had been really quite badly messed up because he broke his promise.

Best lines: “Why did you say six months?!” “Why did you say five minutes?!”

@Al This show is not a kids show!! It a show for all people to love, thats why its so popular, and its always been that way, watch sum of the classic episodes, and they are way more scary.
If ur scared by sum computer generated snake then u should go back to watching teletubbies!
And if u think its a kids show, then y do u watch it?! my 7 year old cuz wasnt even bothed by it

I thought it was a great way to kick start the series with a new Doctor, new companion and an improved interior TARDIS. I wasn’t too sure about the two aliens in that episode but Steven Moffat wrote it beautifully and loved the new storyline of the cracks in the skin of the universe.

I didn’t finish lol. I loved the fish custard scene which was brilliantly played by Matt and Caitlin Blackwood as young Amelia.
