Rate & Discuss: Cold Blood
It’s the most important day in the history of Earth: the dawn of a new age of harmony or the start of its final war. The Doctor must face his most difficult challenge yet, in a battle in which he cannot take sides, and on a day when nobody must die…
Now that we’re over the halfway mark of the series (already!?), things were inevitably going to take a turn for the worse, and in tonight’s episode, our heroes faced their darkest day yet, finding themselves at the forefront of an epic battle for Planet Earth…
In the conclusion to Chris Chibnall’s long-awaited Silurian two-parter, there was plenty of good old-fashioned drama, action and heartache (oh, so much heartache!) on the menu, as the human race faced the dawn of a new age of harmony, or the start of their final war. As if all of that wasn’t enough to discuss, we were also given more tantalizing teases as that pesky little crack returned, and there were yet more jaw-dropping twists and turns adding another bundle of cogs to the ever-growing finale wheel of speculation.

my 6 year old brother says: ‘Cold Blood is not that very good, but in the end it was good and why is the crack now gone bigger? I miss Rory, but i’m happy he’s coming back. That’s it’
How was the Doctor able to stick his hand inside the crack without being erased from time, when he said that if the light touched Amy she would be erased just like Rory?
@e.p
That was when the time energy started coming out the crack to absorb rory, the crack had only just opened when the doctor popped his hand in. I Think that makes sense. :/
@e.p
The Doctor reached into the crack, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he touched the time energy inside. Just like in Flesh and Stone when he sonics the crack up close and (IIRC) touches the crack on the wall in the Byzantium.
Also, to those who believe Rory is returning in the finale, take it with a grain of salt. So far, Arthur hasn’t been confirmed to return in the finale at all, and there wouldn’t really be enough space what with there being the Doctor, Amy, River, the Roman Soldiers, the Daleks, the Cybermen, Amy’s Aunt (not sure that one’s true, though) and a certain mysterious character who first appears in Vincent and the Doctor to name a few.

Ah ok, makes sense. Thanks
I think I want Rory to somehow return, because if he didn’t, I’d have a similar problem with it as I had with Victory of The Daleks, a sense of………that’s it?
So we’ve had this character, we start to get to know him, for better or worse depending on your own opinion, Amy clearly showed her feelings for him in Amy’s Choice and then in Cold Blood, a Silurian kills him, the time energy consumed him and Amy completely forgets about him as if he never existed………If this is to be permanent, I don’t really see the point of the character. If it was that you were supposed to have formed some kind of attachment to the character and therefore have been able to acknowledge the tradgedy, I didn’t really have that much time to care.
It’s like……..you have the characters that die early on that you acknowledge but don’t really care about because they were a character in one episode and then you have the character that dies or is lost right at the end, who you’ve been with for the entire series……….so what exactly is the guy that dies right in the middle who everyone forgets except the Doctor?
Like Victory of The Daleks, it kind of feels like an incomplete story to me, if it’s true that it all ends there……..just my opinion though.
@JC
Rory was in about five episodes, only a couple less than Amy and the current Doc, that’s quite a few, plenty long enough to get to know Rory and feel something when he goes! I for one had a bit of a trembly lip when he’s dying and says sorry about it.
@Steve
Come off it, the originals weren’t all that weird, they were still very human looking, third eye and funny voice or not.
@dorian
The crack is the most interesting part of this series, it’s appearance in the angels two parter and this current one were both spine tingling, sit up straight moments.
An okay episode, didnt really understand Rory’s death, if thats all his character was leading to, was there really any point in him? But I do hope he comes back.
One little point, how did The Doctor remember Rory if Amy didnt and he’d been erased from time? Just wondering why he wasnt wiped from The Doctors memory also
Everyone’s saying they hope Rory comes back in the finale but surely he can’t because he is actually dead. Even if the time energy hadn’t absorbed Rory he would still be dead… or am i missing something?
@TE
Rory has been confirmed for the finale as a picture was leaked at Collectormania festival with him in it (although you can only see the back of him). This has now been released and ive seen it on another DW fansite.
