Karen promises more ‘character-driven’ episode
Karen Gillan has revealed that this week’s episode, Vincent and the Doctor, is much more character-driven than previous adventures.
Speaking to DigitalSpy at the episode’s preview screening yesterday, the actress explained: ”It’s a really interesting episode because it’s quite different to the other ones, a different approach, quite character-driven. You sort of get this unity between the Doctor, Amy and Vincent as they embark on this mad, mad adventure.”
Meanwhile, its writer, Richard Curtis, told the website that the episode could be described as one “about the inevitability of suicide”, but noted “what it’s actually about is the Doctor spying a monster in a Van Gogh painting, travelling back in time and him and Vincent defeating the monster, and then him rewarding Vincent for his pains.”
Vincent and the Doctor airs this Saturday at 18:40 on BBC1 and BBC HD.
