Matt praises Steven’s ‘ambitious’ finale
Matt Smith and Karen Gillan spoke to DigitalSpy at yesterday’s BAFTA screening of The Pandorica Opens, and during his interview the Eleventh Doctor actor praises Steven Moffat’s first ever finale.
“They’re two of the most ambitious episodes, and Steven’s writing has, somehow, got better,” he said. “It’s everything Doctor Who should be and could be. The Doctor is up against it, as up against it as I’ve ever seen. You can’t predict Steven’s brain!”
He also divulges a few details regarding the 2010 Christmas special, which begins filming at the start of next month. He teased: “I got the Christmas episode today, and I read the first page, and I said, “Yes!”. Obviously, I can’t tell you why, but if you read the first page, you’d go “Yes! Thank you, Steven!” And that’s what I did.”
He added: ”That’s really exciting. I’ve never filmed a Christmas ep. And I’ve heard what the first three of Series 6 are about. I just think Steven’s a complete genius.”
The Pandorica Opens airs this Saturday night, at 18:40 on BBC1/HD.

@Glenn
Don’t speak of it. We shall carry on being unable to wait for the next two episodes, wishing away the hours as quickly as possible and then, and only then, will we start to think that perhaps we should have tried to drag it out a bit…
