Russell Tovey has “no idea” about Alonso return
Russell Tovey has admitted that he has no idea what the future holds for his character, Midshipman Frame.
As DigitalSpy reports, the actor revealed during a Being Human panel at San Diego Comic Con that he doesn’t know if he’ll be appearing in Series 4 of Torchwood.
“[I have] genuinely no idea,” he said. ”There’s been lots of rumours. I did that scene and I never really thought anything of it.”
He explained: “To be honest, I’ve never really watched Torchwood. But I’ve been bombarded with messages asking ‘Are you gonna be Jack’s lover?’”
He was introduced in Voyage of the Damned, and was seen again in The End of Time, during which he met Captain Jack. The brief scene has led to speculation that he’ll be joining the team – something he’s previously told SFX he’d be ‘open’ to.
Would Alonso be a good addition to the team? Share your thoughs below. Allons-y!
Don’t mind, really. If he were brought back, I’m sure he’d be brilliantly written etc. We didn’t really get much in the way of character detail from VotD, although we did get that he liked rules to be obeyed. That would create some interesting situations if he joined Torchwood!
I wouldn’t mind either. I remember RTD saying if he stayed after david tennant’s departure he would probably have made Tovey the Eleventh Doctor. I like russell tovey, he was good in voyage of the damned and i like him in being human.
He won’t be in it as that character, there’s no reason for him to be; it was just a little amusing throwaway scene for the end of that Who episode.
I think they have left it open for almost anyone to return, like Genny the doctor’s daughter she could return but if i had to choose one i would not of put him top of my list. I hope that he will be in Torchwood as I think he could be the new Toshiko has he’s goofy and smat.
@Kane
Ooh bringing Jenny back would be an interesting twist. And given DW’s record of coincidental meetings odds are she and Jack have bumped into each other during while running around the universe
*not “during while”. Just while :P
I don’t really expect to see any Doctor Who characters (Jack notwithstanding) appear on the new show, considering the main series is aired on a different network and all. Frame was OK in Voyage of the Damned and the gag in End of Time was alright, but I really don’t see the appeal in the character. I’d rather see Tovey concentrate on the Being Human series while Torchwood concentrates on creating new characters to replace Ianto, Owen and Tosh. RTD is going to have his hands full as it is on that score.
I hope he doesn’t return. That character annoyed the hell out of me.
