The spring series of Series 6 has been and gone, but the first action-packed seven episodes have left us a TARDIS load of unanswered questions and unexplained mysteries…

Suffice to say, Steven Moffat has definitely provided us with more than enough to keep our overactive brains occupied until the Doctor returns in Let’s Kill Hitler in the autumn, so let’s get started, shall we? Of course, we now finally know who River really is, but just what is her relationship with the Doctor? And who was the girl in the spacesuit?

Feel free to speculate away on this post, a link to which will be posted on the sidebar so you can check back to see what our other visitors make of all the latest developments.

Re the exploding Tardis – yes, have to admit that I had always assumed that myself – until I watched the opener again and started noticing odd things. Hanging out of the door may have simply been a good dramatic device to start the series with a bang but it’s still niggling me that there’s more to it than that and if there’s one thing SM is good at it’s mis-directing us so we fail to notice the obvious.
There is also reference in other stories to the Valeyard planning to steal the Doc’s remaining lives during a regeneration when he’s most vulnerable so that theory still hangs together.
Now I’m hoping that ISN’T the real story so that I can write it myself.
    Shutting up now – promise!!

The Doctor would be hanging outside the TARDIS as he had just regenerated and then there was the explosion of the TARDIS. What we should look at is the opening scene in the Eleventh Hour is set in 1996 and whilst we see the TARDIS/Doctor “flying” through London we notice the Millenium Dome or Wheel when it wouldnt’ve been there as it was yet to be built……obviously until 2000

Opening scene (Doc11) set in 2005 when Doc10 visited Rose. TARDIS then crashed, but its a time machine, so it crashed travelling back in time from 2005 to 1996.

I had always assumed Rassilon was brought back to lead the time lords due to the time war being THE most important event in their history, therefore, they broke the rules and plucked him from the past to lead them.

Something bad may happen to Rory, as Amielia Pond and Rory Pond, are to get married. They did, but that was at that time. But in the Beast Below, Amy is in the voting booth and it tells her her personal information, but as the marital status is unknown, that would be in the future, and if they were still be married, it would at least say Rory McWilliams, but no, it doesnt

Two things. First, what if the doctor was only gone for five minutes? Since when is he unaware of time in his own timeline? The only indications that more time has passed are that Amy is bigger and the shed. But he dates the shed based on the taste of the varnish and it’s been established that his sense of taste is not working properly. Second, if you watch the eleventh hour carefully when Amy first gets on to the Tardis, she carefully looks at the control panel and the moves several levers like she knows what she is doing and then looks innocent. I think she has sabotaged the Tardis. W

If you notice right after she fiddles with the controls the crack appears on the Doctor’s monitor and like so much last season having to do with Amy he turns it off and willfully ignores it.

Revenant — the Time Lords wouldn’t have had to break any rules to bring Rassilon back; as established in “The Five Doctors”, he actually never died. He’s become immortal and has been sleeping for eons in Gallifrey’s Death Zone, and according to legend, would one day return to lead the Time Lords to victory. (Basically, King Arthur with two hearts.)

So I don’t think that caused the explosion that ultimately cracked the universe. I think whatever caused the explosion came right when we think it did — just after the Doctor’s tenth regeneration.

As to who’s going to die — well, they say they’re not cheating, but we *know* they all appear later. So it has to be either a temporary death or a shunt into an alternate timeline. I’m gonna guess River, though, because it seems so unfair to kill poor Rory again, and I don’t think it’ll be Amy or the Doctor. Killing River would be extremely timey-wimey, too, and likely very confusing, which seems to be right up Stephen Moffett’s alley. ;-)

Ahh! Only 4 days to go until the premier of the 6th season. Is it at 6 at Britain and 8 in Canada. Just wondering cause…well yeah? I still think something is going to happen to Rory and Omega’s return is still there. But I greatly enjoyed the part 1 and 2 trailers of the first episode. Probably the best season of all I hope u guys would agree with me

I personally think river is travelling throughout time killing different variations of the doctor, for some unknown greater cause. saving him/her somehow

I reckon River will die, and then she’ll cme back again, and we’ll be wondering ????. Of course, I reckon River is still in Library planet manipulating events somehow, and Amy / Rory might be the 2 digital children of Donna’s (seen put to bed at the end of Forst of the Dead.

I’m sure there is some sort of connection between River and Amy, as had been said before, I think the big shock and awe twists don’t have anything to do with River Song, but with Amy Pond.

I think the Doctor will be observed to die in a TARDIS explosion. A future Doctor – the one who the diary and cool medical instrument looking sonic screwdriver belonged to. River will tell Amy and Rory not to reveal this death to Matt Smith’s Doctor in order to avoid a cataclysmic timey-wimey disaster.

I do believe that the 10ths docotr’s story has not ended quite yet but I do feel that 10 or 10.5 will have nothing to do with this series (maybe) because its far too soon to bring back 10 & rose I feel that if david came back he would come back as 10.5 along with rose assuming that they are still together or work together? the exploding tardis looks like 9/10’s tardis something that could link to david returning or not? both David & Billie have not said a word about dr who in interviews as barley speak about it maybe they were told to hush up? if they did return that is. and as for the mid season break possible filming oppatunities? as billie said in a interview at the end on journeys end ” I don’t think that it is over for the dr and rose … yet i dnt know maybe ” she has possibly hinted a return there but in later interviews stated that she wans’t intrested or quickly changed the subject and when asked about if she had seen david recently ina chris moyles radio interview she said ohh um i dunno I haven’t seen him … err i miss him and when asked about if he’s engages to gerogia replied oh really?” i thought them 2 were best friends unless she’s hiding a secret or told not to talk about dr who for 2013? I dont think that the end of time was the last time we saw of david and billie.

Everyone the doctor is the one that dies but it is a future version of him they all get invitations to go to America sent from the future version of himself he gets killed by the astronaut who is the little girl, the silents tell amy to tell the doctor something important she is pregnant btw Rory and river go down a tunnel to find the tardis thing from the James gorden episode

First time on the site, just a little thought for you all…

River insists that Rory and Amy cannot tell the Doctor of his fate no matter what, because it would tear a whole in space and time, right? Well then how is it that the future doctor is aware of his death? Not only that but he is aware of the exact location and time? Surely one of them MUST tell him so he is able to send the invitations out etc.
Infact if this is the case, it would be far more dangerous for the universe NOT to tell him of his fate.
    What do you reckon?

wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey. Its just like last season, the TARDIS exploaded, so the universe never existed. So if the universe never existed, how could the TARDIS be built on Gallifrey (which never existed) to blow up to destroy the universe…oh no, I’ve gone cross-eyed. Its as the doctor said in Amy’s choice: “stars can burn cold, sofas can read”. The universe is a complicated place. DEAL WITH IT!!!
