Torchwood Series 4 to begin filming in January
In a new interview with WalesOnline, Eve Myles confirms that filming for the fourth series of Torchwood will commence in January 2011!
The actress, who plays Gwen Cooper in the spin off, will be moving to the US with her family for seven and a half months to film the new 10-part series alongside John Barrowman as its protagonist, Captain Jack. She told the website that her husband, Brad, daughter, Matilda, and dog, Honeysuckle, are “raring to go”.
“We’re not sure yet whether we are going to be living in Los Angeles or Canada but Torchwood is already very popular in America,” she said. “I had no idea exactly how big it was until I was in Washington DC and I saw myself on the back of a bus. Weird.”
Huzzah!
And when was she in DC?? I live in DC! How did I not know about this?!
Seven and a half months to film ten episodes? That’s a bit long for something filmed in America. But, at least this still means Series Four will premiere in the Summer.
Filming starts in January 2011 for seven and a half months? Does this mean it might not broadcast until 2012?!?! That’s a pretty big between series gap!
@TWWL
I guess because if it’s 7 and 1/2 months that takes it up to the middle of July and then there is all of the post production to be done on visuals, ADR etc… then again I cannot complain… any Torchwood is good no matter when it airs.
@TWWL
It could be broadcast in the fall like SJA. Maybe?
why is it being filmed in america!
american tv shows suck! and they ruin everything they try to copy or do their own version of!
is RTD still writing?

@Steve
American TV shows ’suck’?! Oh dear, oh dear!
The question is, will Torchwood was shown first in the US as Doctor Who was in 1996?
@Steve Sorry fella but that is a very stupid comment. In your opinion, American TV may be “crap” but in all honesty, there are some amazing programs coming out of American. Let not be shy about this, the UK also makes crap programs which it exports or copies from the US or other countries.
@TWWL
Well they have a different style of filming and acting to brit tv shows; more action based, and over the top, which is what americans like. I just dont think that mixing the two would be a good idea (eg Life on Mars, ect.)
@admin
Thanks
@ Steve
Yes RTD will be writing. It is HIS series after all
@TWWL
More likely early-to-late-Summer 2011 given the fact that it’s being filmed by an American team.
@pirko Comment removed. Spoilers!
