Katherine Jenkins to sing in Christmas special?
The Daily Star’s latest rumour is that Katherine Jenkins will be seen singing in this year’s Christmas special.
The Welsh opera singer will reportedly peform a love song specially written by series composer Murray Gold.
A ’source’ told the tabloid: “We have never had anyone burst into song on Doctor Who. It’s a TV first for us. This will send ratings sky high.” What do you think? As always, take the speculation with a pinch of salt!
It’s possible that the report has been based on Katherine’s recent comments, here.
I would like her to sing. She is a singer after all. Kylie is an actress as well, but Katherine is only famous as a mezzo soprano. Of course, she may be a fabulous actress – I’ve never seen her act! Which was kind of my point in the first place… circular argument, anyone?
if she does sing i hope its just in the background like in voyage of the damned because if the singing is full frontal it might start to seem like a west end musical.

Yeah, that would be weird.
Like I said before, I don’t like her voice… classical music is just not my style…

I agree. If I want to watch a musical, I don’t look for a Dr. Who DVD. Dr. Who is not a music show. If they make the Christmas Special into a musical, well, fans such as myself may still watch, but yuck.
If they do have her singing I don’t think they’d do it for the entire episode. If it’s for a minute and it ties in with her characters life I’m fine with it (like Tullulah in series 3).

I agree. They could always sneak it in somewhere. They put a reading of Charles Dickens in series 1, so why not have a scene in an opera house this xmas special?
