BBC launches Classic Doctor Who channel on YouTube
The BBC yesterday launched an official YouTube channel for the classic series of Doctor Who, with the intention of giving “existing fans and new viewers an opportunity to sample” moments from the show’s history!
Running alongside the @classicdw Twitter feed, the channel already features over 40 clips, including a selection of classic clips dating back to the very first episode, as well as exclusive previews of the forthcoming Meglos DVD, set to be released on 10th January.
“I’m delighted to join forces with YouTube,” said Classic Doctor Who Commissioning Editor Dan Hall. “This is an exciting way to deliver content for our net-hungry market.”
Very nice. I’m glad they’re making Classic Who more accessible. I won’t be happy until they have complete episodes though! (Which they won’t because they make too much money from DVD sales… *sigh* oh well)
YAY! SO glad there is somewhere to watch the original episodes. Even though im only 16, I love watching the classic episodes (It’s what dr who is all about.)
Yay!!!! Classic Doctor Who NEEDS to be more accessible!!! I mean this is a start. They show repeats of new Doctor Who on BBC, so why not old Doctor Who???? They need to show more old programs like Doctor Who, and Blackadder ect.
@dani
Hear hear!! I’d love to see a complete set of repeats, starting from way back in 1963. Though I doubt I’d ever get any homework done…
@TSG
Same (Dr.Who is waayyyy more important than homework though…) BBC three would get loads more viewers if they repeated classic episodes instead of repeating series 3 about 50 times each.
@TeamFez!
I know! It always seems to be series 3 on, doesn’t it?
@TSG
Yeah, and when the new series is on they repeat saturdays episode 3 times a week. If they repeated older ones then they would get older viewers watching aswell.
