Matt shakes hands with Matt at the Experience launch!
The Doctor Who Experience officially opened its doors today, and on hand to mark the exciting occasion was the Doctor himself, Matt Smith!
Matt came face to face with his life-size replica at the grand opening, and, as What’s On TV report, later admitted that he found it completely ”surreal” to be introduced to a 3D model of himself. ”It’s so weird but one of the wonderful privileges of this job,” he said. ”You get rather mad experiences. I think he’s sort of a bit musclier than I am!”
He also explained how “harrowing” the development was, revealing: “My face was completely covered in plaster and I had a couple of straws for my nostrils. It was grim.”
As expected, there has been lots of media attention surrounding today’s launch, and we’ll be posting a round up of the coverage shortly. You can also post your own reviews and thoughts in our new discussion! You can purchase tickets via its official site.
ermmm, who is that suposed to be
@Last_of_the_timelords
Aw, come on, I think it’s quite good!
It must be so odd to come face to face with yourself like that. Is there a sense of differentiation; do you think of the model as the Doctor more than Matt?
Ugh, sorry, that’s the writer in me coming up with all the introspective questions.
@TSG
Yeah I do.
Has Matt died his hair, or have they got the colour on the wax wrong, or is the lighting funny in that picture?
It looks like they were going for a Utopia/Tennant aging thing…
The model looks a lot older than Matt and rather careworn, the doctor on a rough day…
Looks more like a sun-dried Bill Nighy than any sort of Matt Smith
But even Madam Tussaud’s models aren’t exactly perfect. Maybe I’m too lenient, but I honestly don’t think it’s too bad.
If I was Matt I would be soo unhappy with that model! xD
That’ll be Matt Smith when he’s 50 and his hair has mysteriously become reddish….
yea he looks really old and ugly, not very flattering is it
