Matt says he feels “innately more settled” in role
Matt Smith has revealed that he’s beginning to feel “innately more settled” in the role of the Doctor now that he is more familiar with what it entails.
In an interview with ABC, the actor admits that he hopes he’s doing the part justice. “By the very nature of living in Cardiff, and knowing Karen and Arthur a bit better, you are innately more settled,” he said. “I don’t know if being more settled means I’m being more inventive with the part and doing it more justice – I hope so.”
He continued: “I hope I’ve broadened my horizons with this part. I think one of the nicest things about playing the Doctor is that every time you have a bath, you can have a bath as the Doctor, which is the most ridiculous bath you’ve ever had in the whole world! There’s something deeply rewarding about that notion, because you get to see the world through this mad, brilliant man. I’m thrilled to be part of so much.”
Series 6 premieres in Australia on ABC1 tomorrow at 7.30pm with The Impossible Astronaut, and the channel has recently launched its official website for the series, which will serve as a haven of knowledge for fans Down Under over the following weeks!
