“This is the day he finds out who I am…”
- River Song

For Doctor Who fans, Saturday is always a big day, but this particular one is even more sizeable than usual! Tonight will see the grand premiere of the long awaited mid-series finale, in which the Doctor will face his darkest hour as A Good Man Goes to War. The question is, are we ready?

Since the mind-blowing cliffhanger at the end of The Almost People last weekend, the anticipation for what has been billed as a “game-changing” finale has been intensifying. Fandom has been hit with a tidal wave of speculation, and, in a matter of hours, we’ll be able to see if any of us even came close to outsmarting the weird and wonderful brain of Steven Moffat. For the Doctor, Amy and Rory, it’s sure to be the greatest challenge yet.

Let’s not forget River, who will also be back on our screens tonight, and this time she’s bringing with her the answer to a question that has been at the forefront of discussion since summer 2008. The Doctor first encountered her in Silence and the Library, and since then, we’ve slowly been given cryptic clues about who/what she is. In this episode, she’ll finally reveal her secret. Will it be worth it? Karen Gillan certainly thinks so!

There’s all of that plus monsters aplenty and the conclusion of various story arcs. What more could we WANT from a mid-series finale!? We were told about the mid-series split last August, and here we are just hours away from the anticipated/dreaded moment…

We’ll be discussing all the shocks from 7:30pm, so join us then to share your reactions!

Ah the revelational mid season finale approaches but it should be called “A Good Man Goes to War Once Again”. I mean hasn’t The Doctor gone to war many times now?

If The Doctor IS the ‘good man’ of the title. Looks more like it refers to Rory…

I have my own theories about the episode but I cant say anything without giving anyything away. Theres loads of little clues theres, but ill bring back a point from past series, something or someone has been manipulating time lines for years… so who or what is it? it may be answered tomorrow… or it may be eps 12 and 13 wen this gets revealed. Also I think the silence are more likely working for a higher force… but who exactly or what exactly?

The tension of weeks and weeks of waiting for this particular episode finally doesn’t have to wait longer! I am certainly looking forward to this Episode because it just seems so brilliantly created and it hasn’t even been broadcast! Steven Moffat is a perfect writer and I’m glad of all the People to take over from RTD’s era, it was him.

I can’t wait for tonight, but at the same time, when it’s finished, I’ll know I have to wait a few months until there’s more.

Sums it up, really. I cannot wait for tonight, but I sort of want the ep to go on forever so we don’t have to face up to the reality of those few months’ wait.

Think of it as this: The first half ends tonight, We wait 3 months for the second half to begin. Then a month or 2 for the Christmas Special. It will feel that doctor who has been on all year plus after the first half we have torchwood to look forward to :)

Not forgetting that The Sarah Jane Adventures will be on around the same time as Series Six ends, which is a positive.

That’s on in October. I was only referring to the 3 month wait for the second half of the series :) sorry should have been clear :)
