Bernard Cribbins receives OBE for drama services
Bernard Cribbins has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
The actor, who has appeared in the revived series of Doctor Who as Donna Noble’s grandfather, Wilfred Mott (Voyage of the Damned, Series 4 and The End of Time), has received it for his services to drama.
He is also known for his roles in Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D., Fawlty Towers and The Railway Children.
He has commented: “You can’t go through life expecting to get prizes. You just get on with things, which is how it should be.”
Well deserved, me thinks! Congratulations, Wilf
Good on him! Brilliant actor! Congrats!!
About time Bernard was honoured but it should have been a Knighthood!
well done bernard u disearve it
Well Done Good Sir.
Bernard Cribbins is a legend. Well done, sir. Well done.
Brilliant News. BC is amazing and has had such a varied career. From battling Daleks in the 1960s, 2 top 10 hits in 1962, Wombling in the 1970’s, over 110 appearances on Jackanory and back to Doctor Who in 2007. Well done Bernard.
Well Deserved
I agree it should have been a knighthood, Bernard is not only a very fine actor, he also does a tremendous amount for charity, I for one have met him now on a few occasions in connection with the Charity Fishing for Heroes for which he is a patron. He is very supportive and works hard on behalf of this and lots of causes. Not decrying Bruce Forsyth his award but I firmly believe Bernard is just as deserving!
“I’m not a violent man, Mr. Fawlty.”
“Yes, you are!”
“No, I’m not, but when I’m insulted and then attacked, I prefer to rely on my own mettle than call the police”
One of my favourite episodes of Fawlty Towers, but yeah, it’s good to see Bernard getting this kind of recognition.
