Matt Smith cast in BBC film about 1948 Olympics
Matt Smith has been cast in a new BBC film – written by William Ivory – about the 1948 London Olympics.
As the Daily Mail reports, the actor will play Bert Bushnell in the 90 minute drama, which will tell the true-life story of how the rower and his partner, Dickie Burnell, overcame class differences to win the event for Britain.
Matt will film ‘Bert And Dickie’ this summer, before filming this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special in the autumn.
Just 6 weeks before the final of the 1948 London Olympics, Bert Bushnell and Dickie Burnell are teamed together to race for Olympic gold in the double sculls. This is the uplifting story of their achievement and how London managed to pull off a brilliant, if make do and mend Olympic Games at a challenging time for the city and the nation.
Well, it is not like MS does not have enought time, now the DW production team have screwed the fans and MS over by breaking up this season and the next 2 years having short seasons or the so called “specials”.
The BBC want to be careful, if I was MS, I would walk and in all fairness, he did go, I would be right behind him.
@Dave
Mmm. Well in any case he’s doing a fantastic job of avoiding being typecast as the Doctor. First Christopher and His Kind and now this. Can’t wait to watch!
