Your Thoughts: Series 6: Part 1 DVD/Blu-ray set
Part one of Series 6 is now out to buy in the UK in a 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray boxset!
It contains the first 7 episodes of the current series – The Impossible Astronaut, Day of the Moon, The Curse of the Black Spot, The Doctor’s Wife, The Rebel Flesh, The Almost People and A Good Man Goes to War – and two ‘Monster Files’ as special features, but is it worth it?
Let us know YOUR thoughts about the boxset in the poll!

I’ve always waited for the full boxsets. They’re all inclusive, usually with added special features, and you feel like you’re getting the product the way it was meant to be, all in one package with a consistent look.
Getting annoyed with everyone saying it’s a waste of money. It’s Doctor Who and I want to rewatch the episodes in summer and it’s cheaper. 2 x £15 DVDs = £30 and all of Series 6.
The Series 5 boxset was £60 at release. The confidential’s are cut down anyway so why pay £30 more for a fancy box and cut down confidential?
I got it yesterday the day it came out and its great but the only special features on there are monster files im abit dissapointed they dont have any confidentials
@charlotte
The confidentials will be put in the boxset possibly like they did for series 5.
Well, I’m ok when it comes to cost. I record Doctor Who, so I can watch the first part and second parts of Season 6 as much as I want for as long as I want. The boxset comes out at the extortionate price it always does and I wait the price down for as long as it takes, which is sometimes quite a few months, but all the while being able to watch my recorded versions.
When the price is around the £32 to £34 mark, that’s when I get it and I’ve ended up getting the boxset for the price I want to pay, which is not much more than the combined volumes as George put it, without missing out on watching Season 6 episodes whenever I want.
Sounds like a fair deal to me.
I got it on the 11th when it came out, pretty glad now that I’ve caught up with latest DVD releases.
i haven’t got it yet but look forward to be getting it soon because it looks awesome. i don’t know whether they’ll make a full series 6 boxset as this dvd set is actually a boxset itself
@matthew hall
On tardis.wikia.com it says there is going to be a full series 6 boxset towards the end of the year.
Well I looked forward to receiving it which I did last Thursday as I pre-ordered it ! and I love it and it some seem better than I recall, I could watch eps 1 & 2 over & over !
No way is ANY Dr Who DVD a waste of money !
Intresting that its the first to be Rated 12 , not PG
I wouldn’t say this is a waste of money, but I am going to wait for the full boxset in the hope that it’ll have more extras, like commentaries etc.
@BustaSilence
Series 1 disc 3 was a PG so not its not the first
I’ll wait for the full boxset, but it’s nice they’re releasing part 1 for people who want to buy it.
You can usually get “like new” DVD sets that were only used once or twice quite cheaply on Amazon. I wait a bit longer to buy the full series on Amazon so I save money that way.
It’s a matter of personal preference in how you buy your DVD’s, if you’re interested in the extra’s, it’s recommended to buy the box set, if you don’t care about them and just want the episodes, getting the volumes is a lot less expensive, I myself love the extras they have, I love studying how they make, shoot, work on special effects, edit etc, as a young film/ TV maker who is still learning, it interests me personally, so I’ll always buy the full box set for the extra content, plus there’s a quality about having it all there in a nice box set which makes me feel like I’m getting a whole year of production in one box (because I essentially am), which feels a lot more neatly tied up, and how it was meant to be.
@BustaSilence
they’ve all been a 12 except series three and I’d rather wait to get the full boxset with all the extras!
