US fans can now pre-order part one of Series 6 on DVD and Blu-ray from the BBC America Shop!

The Region 1 release will be available to buy on both formats from 19th July, and features the first 7 episodes of the latest series. ‘Monster Files’ for the Silence and the Gangers are listed as special features, so we can assume that they’ll also be included on the UK boxset. We’ll let you know if and when more special features are announced! Check out the Region 1 cover artwork below…

Series 6 continues on Saturday at 6:30pm on BBC One, and at 9pm/8c on BBC America.

I’m going to give this one a pass. I understand that a full-season set is supposed to come out later this year as usual (with I assume more extras than those listed here – my understanding from the TV Show on DVD website is those Monster Files will be it for this release) so I’ll wait for the deluxe set. I allowed myself a double-dip on A Christmas Carol (which I assume will also be included in the later box) because they indicated that one of the major features on that release – possibly the Proms – isn’t going to be included in the box set. But the two Monster Files isn’t enough for me to want to double-dip on these sets so I’ll wait for later.

I absolutely hate shows that do this. Never thought Doctor Who would be one of them! I understand that they want to give fans a chance to “catch up” before the latter half of the series, but fans that buy both halves upon release will end up feeling a little foolish when the regular box set comes out with more bonus features and commentaries.
