Christmas special details, guest stars revealed!
The BBC’s released some details about this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special, which began filming earlier this month!
The press release describes the adventure as a “magical and mysterious” tale and says it’ll be “full of Christmas thrills and chills”. Steven Moffat adds: “The Doctor at Christmas, nothing is more fun to write. Maybe because it’s so his kind of day – everything’s bright and shiny, everybody’s having a laugh, and nobody minds if you wear a stupid hat. Of all the Doctors, Matt Smith’s is the one that was born for this time of year.”
Starring alongside Matt in the “emotional” special will be Claire Skinner (Outnumbered), Bill Bailey (Black Books), Arabella Weir (The Fast Show) and Alexander Armstrong. Claire Skinner will play the role of Madge, who she’s described as being “a bit of super-mum”.
The special, set during the Second World War, sees Madge Arwell and her two children, Lily and Cyril, evacuated to a draughty old house in Dorset, where the caretaker is a mysterious young man in a bow tie, and a big blue parcel is waiting for them under the tree. They are about to enter a magical new world and learn that a Time Lord never forgets his debts.
Filming for the special will continue until October. We’ll bring you the latest as and when!
ooh very interesting!! :D
What a great cast… A Klingon, Another Doctor and Mr Smith! Got to be great for a laugh!
Roll On Christmas!!! Wooohooooooooooo!!!!!
Wow, sounds great! Bring on Xmas!!!
That has to be the best setting for a Christmas special so far! Can’t wait for December!
Acting as the Eleventh Doctor is a massive privelage. I must admit, when I was young, that I had never watched a single episode of Doctor Who, and now I’m the main star!
@Matt Smith
You’re not really him……are you?
