Saturday’s Doctor Who Confidential to be the last
It has been confirmed today that this weekend’s Doctor Who Confidential will be the last ever episode of the series.
The behind the scenes programme, which has aired alongside the main series since 2005, has been axed as a “cost-cutting measure” reports the Guardian, who explain: “With the BBC facing budget cuts of up to 20% across its output as part of its Delivering Quality First initiative BBC controller Zai Bennett has chosen to axe the show at the end of its current series”. The final episode, When Time Froze, airs on Saturday.
A BBC spokeswoman said: “Doctor Who Confidential has been a great show for BBC3 over the years but our priority is to build on original British commissions unique to the channel.”
A very, very sad day for indeed! What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments…
Thanks to everybody who emailed us with the news!
i think it might be best for everyone if instead of canceling the show they made it only 20 minutes. it was a bit too long but it was very interesting
@tippy
It was WAY too long. I’m sure it was only half an hour when it started, which was much better; why did they think it should be as long as the actual episode they were talking about?!
The way I see it is that the BBC ignorantly made a bad decision behind bill payers’ backs. I understand that cuts are neccesery but I cannot understand why that means cutting BBC THREE’s highest grossing program. Also one greatly adored by many fans. Which also the reason for the SaveDWC efforts on Twitter. I also agree DWC could be shorter and include less butler interesting information. It won’t be axed though. BBC will be aware of their silly mistake and it will no doubt return for Christmas. DWC has taught us slot about the show we love. Stuff we just wouldn’t know without it. Like the personally of main actors and the fun had on set e.t.c.
