Eve Myles and Kai Owen have been discussing the future of Torchwood in a recent Q&A with the Independent.

Although the cast and crew are said to be “still waiting” to hear news about the show’s return, the actress echoed John Barrowman’s comments about a film being the right way to go. “I think the next step would be a movie,” she said. “We change every year. We have to change every year to keep it fresh and different. With Torchwood, we can live up to the name that you never know what you’ll get.”

Meanwhile, her co-star, who plays Rhys in the series, revealed that he hopes there’s no end in sight for the show. He explained: “It’s the best job ever. If they wanted to do five more years of Torchwood, and I was lucky enough to be part of it, I’d do it every time.”

Miracle Day is released on DVD/Blu-ray on Monday, alongside a Series 1-4 boxset.

No. A movie is not right.

The more I think about it, the more I’d like a TW film. I’ve said before that in my opinion, CoE was Torchwood at its best, and what was that but a five-hour film?

A movie would be cool. I kinda liked Torchwood as a show more then CoE and Miracle Day. I would totally love a movie though!

A movie is the next step but hopefully it would be filmed in UK more than US as here is where it originated. And I want to be an extra in it, even if I have to be a bog monster. I want to be in it.

I don’t think its ready for a film just yet. I think TW needs to divert back to its old ways even though I enjoyed CoE and slightly enjoyed Miracle Day but having watched the first 2 series on the Watch channel I actually enjoyed them more than CoE and Miracle Day but because of how the latter ended I think there will be some kind of sequel perhaps?

If they find the right story I see no reason why they couldn’t do a movie, so long as they’re confident there’s enough public knowledge of Torchwood to make it viable (Serenity tanked because the general moviegoing public wasn’t that overly familiar with Firefly, for example). Meanwhile, those who are still grumpy over the “Americanization” of Torchwood over in the UK can rest easy knowing they’re getting the last laugh – you guys might be getting Miracle Day on DVD/BD next Monday, but over here there’s been no release announced at all, and it could be spring or even summer before we get one in North America.

But the problem is a film is only 2 hours long, Tv series is much longer.
