Michelle Gomez is the latest guest star to be lending her acting services to the new series, it has been confirmed.

The actress, known for her roles in show’s such as The Green Wing and Bad Education, will appear in Series 8 as the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere and has said she is “thrilled” to be part of the iconic franchise.

“I’ve known Michelle for years, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to Doctor Who,” Steven Moffat said. “She’s everything we need – brilliant, Scottish, and a tiny bit satanic.”

The Doctor and Clara return on 23rd August in a feature-length episode, Deep Breath.
