Elisabeth Sladen’s family have requested that donations in her memory are sent to the The Meadow House Hospice.
The hospice provides NHS services in the Ealing, Brent and Harrow areas of London, and, if it weren’t for the continuing donations from the public, they would no longer be able to provide the highest standards of health care to patients as well as support for their families and carers. The hospice cared for Elisabeth during her illness, however the actress sadly passed away on 19th April.

Meanwhile, BBC4 will be airing the final parts of The Hand of Fear tonight as a tribute to Elisabeth, and it has been confirmed that, while no more episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures will be made, the new stories that were filmed will be shown later this year.
The BBC has confirmed that they have no plans to film any more episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures, meaning the series will reach its end when Elisabeth Sladen’s final stories are aired in her memory later in the year.
The beloved actress passed away from cancer last month, but press reports had suggested that show producers were looking for a way to continue making the programme without her. However, the BBC revealed their decision to end the series in an official statement released today.
Last year Elisabeth filmed 6 episodes/3 stories of the spin off’s fifth series, and they will be aired on CBBC as a tribute, and to round off the series, “at a date to be confirmed.”
“Contrary to press reports today we can confirm that no new episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures will be filmed following the tragic death of actress Elisabeth Sladen in April, 2011. As a tribute to Elisabeth the six episodes that were recorded with her last year will be broadcast on CBBC at a date to be confirmed.”
Phil Ford has said: “Eps will be transmitted as tribute. Believe me, they’re crackers.”
BBC4 will be airing one of Sarah Jane’s classic stories, The Hand of Fear, next week.
The shortlist for this year’s BAFTA Cymru Awards have been revealed, and both Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures are included!
Doctor Who is nominated in the Music & Entertainment Programme, Editing: Fiction, Make Up & Hair, Sound and Lighting categories, while its CBBC spin off, The Sarah Jane Adventures, is in the running for the Children’s Programme title. The ceremony will take place on Sunday 29th May at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
Best of luck to the entire production team! At last year’s Cymru Awards, Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Advenures took home 5 awards between them. Let’s hope they have another night of success this year! We’ve got everything crossed!
Prince William and Kate Middleton will be getting married tomorrow, and to celebrate the historic day, we want to know what you think has been the most memorable Doctor Who wedding of recent years!
The Doctor has been to many weddings over the course of his travels (and, for all we know, several of his own…), but unfortunately not all of them have been ones to remember. The first wedding we saw in the revived series was Pete and Jackie’s in Series 1’s Father’s Day.
Their already rocky relationship was made all the more so when Pete made the ill-timed mistake of getting his fiancée’s name wrong at the alter (oops!), and there was yet more chaos in the church in the same episode when a wound in time unleashed the deadly Reapers unto the world on the day of Stuart Hoskins and Sarah Clarke’s wedding.
Meanwhile, the Doctor’s former companion, Donna, has had not one but two wedding days, the first of which took place in The Runaway Bride. As she prepared to tie the knot in a glittering ceremony on Christmas Eve, she was blissfully unaware that she was already tied up in a sinister plan to take over the world. Her fiancé, Lance, was working alongside the Empress of the Racnoss, and Donna subsequently vanished as she made her way down the aisle. Now that’s one way to make an exit! She finally got her happily ever after, however, when she married Shaun Temple in The End of Time, Part Two.
The most recent wedding was Amy and Rory’s, who tied the knot (eventually!) in The Big Bang. It was a day of joy and salvation as the Doctor made a triumphant return, and just in time to show off his groovy dance moves! It’s a good thing it all went well, as Rory had waited nearly 2,000 years to get Amy down the aisle. Good on you, mate!
Weddings have also been the settings of two spin off adventures. In The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith, Sarah Jane was ready to make Peter Dalton a part of her life, but it was later revealed that it was all part of a plan put in place by the Trickster. Rhys and Gwen’s wedding in Something Borrowed, meanwhile, was made all the more stressful when the blushing bride was impregnated with an alien baby… Only in Torchwood, eh?
Of course, there have been other Doctor Who weddings, and there will no doubt be more of them to come in the future, but for now you are cordially invited to vote for your most memorable one from the selection below. Do you prefer it when things go to plan? Doctor Who and marriage don’t always go together like a horse and carriage…
This poll is now closed. Thanks for voting!
