Eoin Colfer has today been unveiled as the first author to be contributing to Puffin’s new Doctor Who e-book series.

To mark the show’s 50th anniversary, eleven short stories, one for every Doctor, will be released online throughout this year, each by an exciting name in children’s fiction.

Kicking off proceedings is Eoin Colfer, the author behind the popular science fiction novel series Artemis Fowl. He has penned A Big Hand For The Doctor for the First Doctor.

“As a boy, I’d been reading the Doctor Who books years before I saw a single episode,” Eoin’s said. “The on-screen version of the First Doctor was identical in my imagination.”

A Big Hand For The Doctor is released globally on 23rd January 2013 for £1.99. In 1900, the First Doctor is missing his hand and his granddaughter Susan. The search to find her takes him on another dangerous journey to a land he is promised to never, ever forget…
