Steven Moffat relives the first day of filming
Steven Moffat has posted a blog entry to BBC Blogs in which he shares his own personal account of the very first day of filming – 20th July 2009.
On that day, the eyes of the world turned to Southerndown Beach in South Wales, as Matt Smith and Karen Gillan kicked off production for Series 5, joined by returning guest star Alex Kingston as River Song! Time really does fly, as the scene they filmed that day appears in this Saturday’s episode, The Time of Angels!
In the blog, the showrunner reveals: “I vividly remember arriving on that beach. I saw the TARDIS in the distance, which was very much the culmination of all that time waiting to get started – which you could argue was two and a half years, or 40 years for me.”
In addition, the official Doctor Who website has now been updated with the introduction video for the episode, as well as 3 tantalizing preview clips!
The Time of Angels airs this Saturday at 6:20PM on BBC1/HD. Roll on Saturday!
Brilliant clips. And, assuming River is human, humans can properly fly the TARDIS!! I’m probably going to receive scathing comments “you didn’t know that?” but that’s brilliant fodder for fanfic. Ooh, alliteration…
We’ve had to wait the longest to see it, but here it is: The Time of Angels – the beginning of the end… but not for the Doctor or Amy: Woop!
