Karen Gillan has spoken to Radio 1’s Newsbeat about this year’s two-part finale, which kicks off on Saturday with The Pandorica Opens

Speaking at yesterday’s BAFTA screening of the episode, she said of Episode 12’s cliffhanger: “It’s one of those moments where you go, ‘How is he going to get out of this one? Is he going to get out of this one?’ It’s the worst thing that could happen to the Doctor.” She has previously urged fans to have a box of tissues at the ready. Oh dear!

Looking back over her first series, the actress reminisced: ”I’ve just enjoyed playing Amy everyday, and going to work is actually fun. Just messing around between takes is always fun, and the action-y things like running around.”

The worst thing that could happen to the Doctor? Worse than losing Gallifrey/Rose/the rest of his species? Worse than what happened to Donna?

    Wow.

maybe everything that happened (so far i’m guessing in doomsday, stolen earth, new doctor) which involved the daleks and cyberman, planets in the sky – never happened. wiped from history, erased from time. and the doctor is going the same way.

why have I got a feeling that karen is leaving the series already. Its just that last comment she mad about enjoying her first year. I hope shes not going :(

Oh and the whole “the audience will need a box of tissues” over the finale. They said this with The End of Time and the finale to series 4. As sad as I found these two finales, I do think the dr who cast and crew just over exaggerate the emotion of the finales

Hmmm … I assumed it only meant that she and Rory will marry after all. Don’t people often cry at weddings? I’m only guessing, though.

I think her storyline goes midway through next series.

Agreed on that second point Pirko, Doctor Who has never had the emotional impact to effect me in the “box of tissues” kind of way, not even close unfortunately, and I do think the actors perhaps unintentionally exagerate, perhaps because they’re very close to Doctor Who and they may lose a bit of perspective, I’m not sure.

As for the finale, I’m one of these people that aren’t even going to attempt to guess what’s going to happen, I’m just going to let the show reveal the secret and hopefully enjoy the result and the illumination of clues I may have missed.

I’ve cried several times at modern Who, most recently at the Van Gogh episode! Other times include Donna’s sad ending, basically anytime Bernard Cribbens welled up I was on the edge, too!

Doctor Who has always made me cry…I love a show that can make me cry and laugh on a regular basis, and Doctor Who does it better than anyone! I just hope Rory has a good outcome in this, but regardless, I can hardly wait to see!

Perhaps I’m just emotionally cold compared to most people then, lol

Yeah I reckon that ‘the worst thing’ dosnt just have to be a ‘thing’ (like daleks, cybermen ect.) but somthing that will happen, and i think it will be that the cracks are being controlled by sumone to erase things that the doctor was done, and this would be horrible, and the doctor will have to face the concequenses of that.
and also that will allow Steven Moffat to completely start the doctor who universe again, which could be good..or bad
