The 425th issue of Doctor Who Magazine is set to be released this coming Thursday 19th August, and inside Sylvester McCoy – also known as the Seventh Doctor - talks about both the classic and new series in what is being billed as ‘his most candid interview to date’.

“I’m delighted that they’ve done such a good job in bringing it back. I’m so proud to have that connection with this very successful programme. It wasn’t allowed to be successful when I was doing it. At the time, I didn’t know why. It was only afterwards that I realised I wasn’t given a fair crack of the whip. I wish I had been…”

Meanwhile, DWM journeys to the Royal Albert Hall for the Doctor Who Prom, talking exclusively to Murray Gold and Ben Foster, before delving deep into the complicated realms of time travel in an in-depth feature attempting to make sense of all the timey-wimeyness goodness that comes hand in hand with the Doctor throughout his travels.

Elsewhere, the Doctor and Amy Pond discover that too much television can be very, very bad for kids when they land in Tokyo in part one of The Golden Ones comic strip by Jonathan Morris and Martin Geraghty, while showrunner Steven Moffat spills the beans in another hilarious instalment of his acclaimed Production Notes.

As the Fact of Fiction dissect The Shakespeare Code to discover the truth behind the world’s greatest playwright, Tom Baker, Richard Franklin and Susan Jameson discuss the Fourth Doctor’s forthcoming audio series, Demon Quest, with its writer Paul Magrs.

Plus, Philip Olivier, the voice of nurse Hex in the Seventh Doctor audio adventures, reveals what he really thinks about Doctor Who fans, and there’s the usual array of offical news, previews, reviews and competitions delivered straight from the vortex!

Don’t miss Doctor Who Magazine #425, published later this week at the price of £4.20!
