Specials soundtrack cover artwork revealed
August 4th, 2010
The fantastic cover atwork for the forthcoming Series 4 Specials soundtrack was unveiled today.
As we previously reported, the highly-anticipated 2-disc set will be released by Silva Screen Records on September 20th, priced £11.99.
It will feature a selection of Murray Gold’s original scores from The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars and The End of Time parts one and two.
We’ll bring you its full track listing as and when, but you can see its cover below.
Will you be adding it to your collection? Which tracks would you like to see included?
Oh, that’s actually quite bad. And why is it so End of Time-centric? You can’t call it The Specials Soundtrack and have the cover focused on one story. They should have used the DVD Cover instead.
I’ll definitely be adding it to my collection, can’t wait for the physical release but I’m really not keen on this cover. Like TE says it’s too focused on The End Of Time and personally it looks really crowded, a more simple approach to it would have worked alot better.
@TE
Totally agree. If you’re going to have a collection of characters, include Jackson Lake, Christina de Souza, Adelaide Brooke. And the skeleton Master creeps me out, though that may be just me.
Thanks to this computerised age in which we live, however, I’m planning to just load the music onto my computer, create a new piece of album artwork and lock the case in a drawer somewhere. Problem solved!
i’m not fused what the case looks like (thou a design based on the Specials boxset from January would’ve been good (Use the image of the (10th) Doctor walng away, back turned to us on back of DVD box , for the Track Listing) I Just hope they have David’s farewell music from End of Time, Part 2 (That was a great bit of music and personally i think is as memorable as the Dr Who theme (Love the 2010 version of the theme tune – Don’t care what people say?)
This is a 2 disc set? How are they gonna be able to spread tracks from just 4 episodes onto a 2 disc set?
And the Skeletor Master is a little creepy.
@Chris
The mystery that will live on forever, especially considering how little new music was composed for the Specials.
I’m not a fan of the cover, there is too much going on and in some lights could even look a little amateur-ish :/
Saying that though this is definitely going to be in my collection, have all the soundtracks they have released so far and this one is definitely a must have for me!
They should have used the picture of Ten from the specials DVD, that was a great shot!
Yes! This is the news I have been literally waiting for all year :D Thanks for reporting!
