Doctor Who has been named as the programme that members of the public would most like to watch on 3D television.

According to a report in The Mirror, the study - which was carried out by Panasonic – saw Wallace and Gromit coming in at second, just ahead of Top Gear which was third. Panasonic’s Fabrice Estornel said that “the past few months have seen a welcome increase in the amount of 3D programming for the home”.

Earlier this year, a 3D trailer was screened in cinemas to promote the fifth series.

    Well, I still prefer 2D.

Just as long as 2D is still available and they don’t start catering the filming to 3D with unnecessary shots of things flying at the screen. The coming of 3-D has virtually destroyed my enjoyment of “event” movies in the theatres because where I live the 2-D versions are usually not carried ref: Resident Evil, Despicable Me, Toy Story 3, Shrek Forever, Alice in Wonderland and about 5 or 6 other films I couldn’t see this year until they came out on Blu-ray. I did see Avatar in 3-D and hated the experience, which left me with headaches and an active dislike of the movie; I saw the Blu-ray 2-D version and the film is so much better looking without the unnecessary gimmick.

I would be SO angry if it came out on 3D. 3D is a format that only a percent of people can appreciate and thus would make Doctor Who for even bigger a minority.

Frankly, the only reason for having Doctor Who in 3D would be the awesome Amy Pond…
