Katherine Jenkins relives Gambon’s practical jokes
Katherine Jenkins has revealed that there was never a dull moment on the set of A Christmas Carol - thanks to the practical jokes pulled by Sir Michael Gambon!
The opera singer, who appears as Abigail Pettigrew in the special, has told Wales on Sunday about one particular prank involving Gambon’s cane prop. She explained: “The crew had to wear hard hats and he’d wander up behind them, whack them on the head with the end of his stick and then quickly turn away like nothing had happened.”
She laughed: “He let me take the blame on a number of occasions. He is a wicked man.”
Meanwhile, regarding her nerves about making her acting debut in the festive episode, she admitted: “I really wasn’t sure if I was up to it. It’s the Doctor Who Christmas Special too, that’s one step down from the Queen’s Speech in the iconic stakes.”
A Christmas Carol airs on Christmas Day at 6pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
